A path not easily walked, she has learned what it means to live life despite the hardships that will come one's way.While she may have once romanticized title of Warrior of Light, it was a rude awakening in the regal halls of Ul’dah that insisted upon her the knowledge that one such title has a weight far too heavy for a teenager. Prelude: Before the Rebirth of a Realm

Even before her birth, Amaris Stiel was always different. In a good way. In a blessed way. Born to Marga & Mikos Stiel, Amaris was the child they had prayed for. Afflicted with low aetheric levels, the couple had all but given up hope that they would ever be able to bring a pregnancy to term.Giving up very well could have been the path taken if it were not for Hydaelyn's Blessing. In an abundance of kindness, She had chosen to overwrite the laws of the Star to bring them a child. While Marga & Mikos could only thank the Twelve and Hydaelyn Herself for this intervention, they would never fully know the truth.In search of a Champion and in hopes of an apology to a lost peer, Hydaelyn takes action. The aetheric density of a soul long since sundered will guarantee survival, and two parents who will love said soul will guarantee support. It is with hope & heart that Hydaelyn encourages this soul to take refuge in the body of a bubbling baby girl. Hydaelyn's gamble was successful, and with nine Moons safely passed, Amaris Stiel was born, her parent's boundless love already felt for malms.Born in the quiet yet beloved settlement of Hyrstmill, Amaris was never a stranger to conflict. Despite her parent's wishes to shield her from the realities of the world, it was a fateful day in the Summer of 1567 where that conflict became unavoidable. Alongside her parents in a carriage ride into Gridanaia proper, it was Mikos who first caught sight of a young Ixal held at spearpoint by three Wood Wailers. The three looked on in disgust. Who would do such a thing? was all Marga needed to utter to cause Mikos to request the carriage be brought to a halt. As he jumped from the carriage, Amaris was quick to follow.As Mikos tried to verbally reason with the Wood Wailers, to show that this young Ixal clearly posed no threat despite his proximity to the Yellow Serpent Gate. While two Wood Wailers spoke with Mikos, the third did not remove his spear from the side of the young Ixal's neck. This, in this moment, was more than enough cause for Amaris to take action. With a heave of her 5 year old body, she slammed into the Wood Wailer and knocked him just so that the spear fell from his grasp. With the courage of heroes from her father's mythological tales, she did not hesitate to stand between the young Ixal and the Wood Wailer. Even further, she did not hesitate to reach for the fallen spear. Concerns about the implications of such a move were never explored as the second her fingers brushed the wood, a vision of the past found its way into her mind's eye.Visions like this were not uncommon to Amaris, for as long as she could remember, she found herself seeing tales of the past when distinctly in the present. This time was no different. Clear as day, three Wood Wailers laughing and mocking the young Ixal. Taking joy in the idea of an ambush, even noting that it was "odd" that "it" wasn't doing anything other than walking.This vision was all she needed to solidify her stance. With what she considered a battle cry, she demanded the Wood Wailer leave the young Ixal alone. Marga found herself rushing towards her daughter and the young Ixal, her body now between the both of them. The Wood Wailer begrudgingly took their leave, taking down the names of the Hyuran family that so swiftly came to the aid of, in their words, a monster.Handkerchief provided to the young Ixal and tears now wiped away, the family learned his name was Jozol Meyeann. At only 4 years old, he had not yet learned that not all life on the Star was created equal. With a sniffle, Jozol intended to make his return to his family near Proud Creek when Amaris grabbed him by the arm. In this moment, time stood perfectly still. Instantly, a friendship was born. Insepertable the two would become, no matter what residents of the Twelveswood thought. Opting to see the boy home, Marga & Mikos stood proud as they walked down well-travelled paths with their daughter and her soon-to-be best friend in tow.Over the years, Amaris & Jozol's friendship only grew and her connection with her parents only strengthened. Even after the havoc wreaked on the land during the Calamity, Amaris took the move to Fallgourd Float in stride. Finding new places to play pretend with Jozol, having her father tell her new mythological tales, and spending time with her mother as she oversaw the construction of a brand new settlement, Amaris had very little to complain about.Years went by and, unlike most heroes in triumphant stories, Amaris was happy. It was not until her 15th namesday that she had the realization that as happy as she was, she was not sure exactly what she wanted. Who was Amaris Stiel? What was she going to do when she grew up? What did she want to be? A question not answered in the pages of a faerietale book or amongst her mother's peers, it was up to her to find out. With permission granted from her parents and a satchel of gil, Amaris finds herself at the Rebirth of a Realm as she takes off for a two-sennight trip to Gridania proper all on her own.
